A couple of Sundays ago, we awoke to find this poor little guy trapped in one of our window sills down in the basement level. At the time, I thought it was a mouse, but I've since done some research (in other words, googling) and have narrowed it down to "field vole". A vole, it seems, is similar to a mouse, but with smaller ears and eyes, and a shorter tail.
Now, I know that handling furry little creatures is not going to be everyone's cup of tea (myself included), but this tiny little creature was so very cute, that I really didn't mind getting up close and personal to it.

Having spent the night stuck in the window sill, we thought he would want to be rescued and released, so my husband John scooped him up and put him down onto our outdoor terrace.
We were expecting that he would scurry off hurriedly, but that didn't happen, he just curled up into a little ball of fur and stayed perfectly still.

On closer inspection, it turned out that the poor little thing was so exhausted that all he wanted to do was to close his eyes and... *yawn* .... have a little bit of a snooze... because I'm just so slee...zzzzzz.....
Awww.... isn't that sweet?

Its not everyday that we get wildlife just fall asleep on our patio!
We did eventually place him (still sleeping!) back into the fields.
