Foraging for the last of the blackberries...

A few weeks ago (when it was still warm and the sun was still shining!), we found lots of lovely juicy blackberries ripening and waiting to be picked in our hedgerow.  It always amazes me how fruit grows so easily in this country!

These blackberries grow in the wild, and their branches are covered with lots and lots of prickly thorns.  I have to take great care to not gash my hand as I reach in between branches for the ripest berries.  Too often, I am not careful enough, and end up with scratches all over my arm and boy, does it hurt!

Its all for a good cause though, and pretty soon, I have combined them with apples from our tree and am feasting on a warm apple and blackberry crumble which is absolutely scrumptious.... nom..nom..nom....
